Dear Team,
Bad luck at the weekend, we lost in the Trophy cup 5-2 to Marys’. We were up 2-1 in the first half, 2-2 by half time. One Emily Henderson let in an own goal in the second half, and we couldn’t get back after that. They are a really strong side, in good physical shape, pass and move very well and clearly have played a lot together. In light of this, we will take the next two trainings concentrating on positional play. We’ve got the materials (i.e. players and skills) now we need to get organised.
Cheers,
Emily

Dear Team,
Well done for yet another draw, 0-0 against Trevs on Sunday. Trevs had a very good side, they created a lot of chances but we defended very well, Felicity as usual made loads of saves and Rachel and Laura swept up the mess! We also managed to move the play forward despite this, Fran working with Sam and Wanda with Anna. We played with 9.5 for most of the first half (Rachel Moss off on injury, Chez playing with injury).Luckily Samantha Bueno made it down in time to sub (many thanks to her!). Player of the match went to Sam for her regaining possession time and time again (with some excellent slide tackles!) and continuous drive to move the play up the pitch.
Surprise, we have a match this Saturday! The trophy cup fixtures have been posted on the Team Durham website. Please have a look and fill your diaries with all our future matches. The match is Sunday against Marys (who we drew with in our first match this season), kick off 12pm, on the same pitch, Maiden Castle 5. As usual we’ll meet 11am in the changing rooms and get out on the pitch asap to warm up. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN PLAY.
Cheers,
Emily

Hello Team,
Well done to everyone who came out on Sunday for our first match of the season, against Marys. The final score was 2-2 . We were up 2-0 at half time, with two goals within minutes of each other after a stroke of brilliance from Ally across goal; and Rachel with an assist from Chez. Marys proved good competition and didn’t take it laying down, and came back in the second half with a goal, and then a second just minutes from full time. Well done to Felicity for keeping out many attempts on goal, she did excellent, we got unlucky. A match report will come out soon from Ally and Rachel, which no doubt will underplay their own brilliance! So a shout out their magic making. Player of the match went to Rachel ‘Sicko’ Sycamore, for her bastion of a performance in centre half. Not a bad start to the season, with two goals and a draw.
We have our second match this Sunday, 11am on maiden castle pitch 5 again (behind the astro pitches) against Trevs. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN PLAY.
Thanks,
Emily

Dear Team,
Welcome to our new and returning teammates! I’d like to thank club vice-captain Fran for taking over while I’ve been away at a conference. I look forward to meeting up with everyone at tomorrow’s session.
To remind you, training starts 6pm prompt every Tuesday til 7pm on the astro pitch at Maiden Castle (aka Sport Centre). Have a look at the maps for directions. Wear trainers (e.g. running shoes) or astro shoes–no boots / studs / cleats advised or allowed. (If you like you can buy astro shoes at most sports stores for as low as ~£20. They are better than running shoes as they give better grip and agility, and better feel of the ball). Please bring £2 for pitch hire and coach fees, although your first session with us is free!
Hope to see you all there.
Cheers,
Emily

Dear Team,
Pre-season training starts this week!
1) Meet punctually Tuesday, 6-7pm, for training with our coach Phil. Meet on the grass just to the right of the astro pitch as you come from the car park. Please remember to bring £2 for subs. The ground is grassy and semi-moist. I would suggest a bladed moulded boot if you have one. If not, anything else would probably work too!
2) Meet Sunday, 12-1pm, same place. No subs necessary. We will do ball work with a focus on fitness, and hopefully have a few laughs, as we usually do!
We’ll carry on with the Sunday training for four weeks, through the 14 Oct. Our first match should be around the following weekend. Tuesday training will carry on throughout the season with Phil.
